In Georgia, the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) said on Tuesday, March 15, that the GFF and the national football team of Georgia will send humanitarian aid packages to Ukraine, which includes items first aid kits, medical equipment, various types of medicines and baby food to assist the Ukrainians in an ongoing war with Russia.
As per the reports, the humanitarian aid donated by people, organisations, NGOs, and many countries will provide some respite to the people of Ukraine during this challenging time that the country currently faces.
Moreover, President of GFF, Levan Kobiashvili, stated that “football is more than ninety minutes game and more than a result, and our GFF team, footballers actions reflect that sentiment.”
Since the beginning of the war, we have been supporting the people of Ukraine and our close friends at the Ukrainian Football Association. Georgian footballers playing in Georgia and abroad are united in their support and solidarity for our Ukrainian friends,” Kobiashvili stated.
Guram Kashia, a member of the national football team, expressed solidarity with the people of Ukraine, saying that his colleagues are “concerned about the situation in Ukraine” and hope for an end to the war soon.
Russia started its military operation against Ukraine on February 24 after President Putin announced the recognition of the independence of the Ukrainian territories of Donetsk and Luhansk on February 21.
The international community has also condemned the invasion, expressing support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Earlier, the Georgian Government also provided 100 tons of humanitarian aid packages to assist Ukrainians. The country has also provided an aid worth 1 million GEL ($315,000/€279,000) to Ukraine, with the Georgian Post also informing it would deliver humanitarian parcels to Ukrainian citizens free of cost.
