A important grant competition has been announced under Green Guria project. This is announced for all three municipalities of Guria.
It is worth to note that within the framework of the project “Green Guria which is   aimed to support local democracy and rural development for inclusive and sustainable green growth many work will be completed.
The project is being  supported by the European Union, moreover CENN together with partner organizations  “Young Teachers’ Union” (YPU), Institute of Democracy (IOD) and Kedi Local Action Group (LAG) – on April 1, 2024 announced this grant competition for all three municipalities in Guria region For the municipality (Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, Lanchkhuti).
The aim of the grant competition was in line with the priorities of the Guria Region Local Development Strategy, improving the welfare and existing conditions of the local communities, diversifying local economic activities, attracting investment, promoting establishment of competitive agricultural and environmental practices, promoting the implementation of innovative approaches, rural e-Strengthening economic opportunities through collaborative and strategic planning.
There are some major projects financed by the grant competition:
51 projects were funded out of 342 applications received within the grant competition. The budget allocated for the grant component of the 51 initiatives was completely depleted by the project.
Funded destinations:
Rural tourism and hospitality: family hotels, cottages, Gurian tea and Gurian wine museums, wine tourism projects.
Agriculture and agro-business: greenhouses, winery, production of blueberries, strawberries, flowers and cherry.
Education and innovation: STEM-laboratories, school laboratories.
Ecotourism and protection of the environment: companies working on solar energy, ecological initiatives.
Social and cultural projects: toy production, restoration of historical cells, arrangement of kitchen and restaurant spaces.
The funded projects will have a significant positive impact on both individual beneficiaries and on the social and economic development of the region as a whole.
There are many projects which are being executed under project Guria. The number of project under this are aimed to bring improvement in social economic life of pubic living in all three municipalities within Guria region.
