Tbilisi: Underpass decorated with lights on colon cancer awareness month

The historic and important Tbilisi underpass has been lit up with blue color. This has been done in connection with International Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

The historic and important Tbilisi underpass has been lit up with blue color. This has been done in connection with International Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

It is to be specifically mentioned that with this activity the events planned by the National Cancer Screening Center within the framework of the “information campaign” about colon cancer have started.

Notably during this month various events around the world are being carried out aimed at raising awareness about colon cancer and preventing fatalities.

Speaking on this Director of the National Screening Center Eter Kighuradze said “It is important that for the last few years Tbilisi our capital city is joining the world action against colon cancer. To prevent cancer and solidarity with victims of this problem Tbilisi’s underpass has been illuminated in the appropriate colors”.

He further stated “There are also some different events being held to raise awareness about cancer screening. This is another way to remind citizens of the importance of timely action to prevent further forms of disease and lethal cases of these deadly diseases. Our information campaign is also aimed at promoting early diagnosis, prevention, and screening programs of cancer for better treatment strategies”.

It is to be added that the many other buildings were also decorated with different colors to raise awareness about colon cancer by the initiative of the National Screening Center and the support of “Tbilservis Group” Ltd.

It’s worth noting that people of both genders between 50 and 70 years old can get a free, state-funded colon cancer screening.

 Similarly people who want to get themself screens can contact the National Screening Center. The health experts also advised the people to get themself updated on the occasion of World Colon Cancer Day. They also said that early detection can be helpful for the effective treatment of colon cancer as well. Many government and non-government organisation has also organised many seminars.
