Hiking Club Ronin invites citizens for a one-day tour of Dzama Valley and Bateti Lake on January 14, 2024. The people who love nature and adventure and want to explore the historical and cultural heritage of the Shida Kartli region can join the tour.
The tour will start from M Didube station, opposite Samto Chemistry, between Lukoil and Gulf. The gathering time is 07:50 pm, and the departure is 08:00 pm.
The tour costs 35 Gel per person by minibus or 50 Gel by jeep. The payment is made in advance and includes transportation, a guide and a photo shoot.
The tour will take people to some of the most beautiful and exciting places in Dzama Valley, home to up to 60 historical monuments, including old and modern churches and monasteries, fortresses, towers and natural sights.
People will visit the Ortubani Mothers Monastery, which dates from the XVII-XVIII century; the Sarkineti Shio Mghvimeli Monastery, which is a rock-cut church opened and blessed in 2011, and the Kozifa Monastery, which consists of five churches.
The tour’s highlight will be the Bateti Lake, a landslide lake located 1313 meters above sea level. A thick forest surrounds the lake and is completely frozen this season. The reflection of colourful trees creates fantastic scenery.
The lake is also a habitat of a near-threatened newt species, which is included in the Red Book. People can relax by the lake, picnic, and enjoy the fresh air and stunning views.
The total walking distance of the tour is 6 km. The route’s difficulty is simple, but it could be of medium difficulty depending on the snow cover. It is advisable to wear hiking shoes, waterproof clothes, and a perfect outfit for the snow.
