Following investigations and operational actions, the staff of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested two more people on charges of gang violence. One person was born in 1995 and is a foreign national and the other was born in 1997.
The investigation found that the defendants during the protests on Rustaveli Avenue committed violent acts in groups, resisting and disobeying the legal demands of law enforcers and firing various objects at them. 28 people have been arrested by the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs so far during the investigation.
The ministry also informed the public about the events that developed during the protest rally in Tbilisi last night and the illegal actions taken by the protesters.
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as in all gatherings and demonstrations, were mobilized in parallel with the meetings held on Rustaveli Avenue to protect public order and the safety of citizens.
The protesters had the opportunity to protest and continue the demonstration in a peaceful environment, just like the previous two days.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also called on the participants of the demonstration that the gathering would be peaceful and not exceed the limits set by law.
Members of the demonstration shot pyrotechnics at the Parliament building and the law enforcers standing on the front perimeter.
Later, on Chichinadze Street, pyrotechnics attached to a tree were shot with targets in the direction of the policemen intended to ensure law enforcement.
Also, police officers were verbally abused, throwing stones and various heavy objects in their direction.
Due to the use of pyrotechnics thrown by the protesters, one employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was injured.
Demonstrators, despite a number of calls from law enforcers to protest peacefully, continued to act unlawfully, while the Ministry of Internal Affairs passed legally granted measures, including using special measures enforced by law. Before using special means, the participants of the meeting were warned.
Demonstrators later shifted from Rustaveli Avenue to Heroes Square, when cars on the road were restricted, they clashed with the passengers of the car, who were the personal protection of one of the defendants. During the demonstration, 48 persons were arrested under articles 166 and 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
