Tbilisi: The representative of the International Organisation for Migration-Georgia met with the Spanish delegation. They shared their strategy and experience to counter illegal migration, which is normally happen due to Human trafficking.
As per the official of IOM Georgia, to counter the threat of human trafficking at the international level, it is necessary to have mutual cooperation and partnership among all agencies of different countries.
The Spanish delegation is visiting Georgia under the framework of the EU-funded PROMETHEUS project. This is a very important project that was created to develop and share innovation and entrepreneurship support for digital transformation and to switch towards a circular economy.
At this meeting  the official of IOM Georgia shared the main strategies for fighting human trafficking in Georgia. In addition to the strategy they also discussed a number of ways to further improve the fight against human trafficking in the region.
Although the menace of human trafficking is a big and centuries-old problem, cases of human trafficking have risen significantly. This cause serious demographic problem. At the same time, bilateral, multilateral, and regional conflicts also added to the problem, making it more serious. The wars between many countries especially in the Middle East and African nations, resulted in huge migrations of people from one place to another in search of safe living.
The organized criminal gangs who are involved in human trafficking lure these innocent homeless and jobless people into their traps. They lured them in the name of the jobs, safe passage and financial assistance as well. Unfortunately  the innocent people trapped in their net failed to recognize the threat in the initial phase and then found it difficult to escape.
Many Western and European countries are facing the heat of illegal human trafficking. Sometimes illegal immigrants leads to direct clashes with the local population.
There are many world-known incidents that took place and caused the death of these people on their way to safe destinations. At the international level many agencies are working to counter the threat. However the human traffickers find loopholes to manipulate the legal sanctions.
