Kutaisi all set to host Imeretian wine competition

Kutaisi City of Georgia is all prepared to successfully host the Imeretian Wine Competition 2024. The competition will last three days  from October 4 to 6, 2024.

It is worth noting that the main objective of this competition is to support the development of wine tourism in Sakartelo. Moreover, it will also help to raise awareness of Imereti grape varieties, Imereti winev and general information about the Imereti viticulture and winemaking region.

The competition samples will be tasted by a jury consisting of Georgian and foreign experts on this occasion. The company’s anonymity will be protected during the wine tasting. The following are the wine experts who will be members of the Jury to announce winners. Foreign members of the jury are:

2. Thomas Brandl (Germany)
3. Davide Bartone (Italy)
4. Matthew Horkey (USA)
5. Irina Dyachenkova (Ukraine)

Similarly the Georgian jury members are as follows:

1. Vladimir Kublashvili
2. Tamar Imadedze
3. Tinatin Jajanidze
4. Giorgi Samanishvili
5. Saba Kitiashvili

Participation in the competition requires certain conditions. According to the rules the wine should be made from 100% Imeretian grapes. A participant can be a wine enterprise, an individual winemaker, a cooperative or a union of winemakers.

The company or private person participating in the competition must submit the samples in the following form:

1. The wine must be bottled, ready for sale
2. The minimum remaining amount of presented wine should not be less than 100 bottles

The bottle label should include the following information:

1. Full name of the manufacturing company
2. Brand name
3. Name of the wine
4. Year of bottling
5. Grape variety
6. Region/Country
7. Volume
8. 4 samples of wine of the same name must be presented (bottle = 0.75 l)

The person must fulfil the registration form before bringing the samples.From August 30 to September 27, from 12:00 to 17:00. Samples must be accompanied by a transfer slip. At the same time the samples that do not comply with the competition rules will not be sent back. A person interested to participating in competition needs to remember the following information for depositing amount:
