In a recently held ceremony, Ioseb Khakhaleishvili, Mayor of Kutaisi Municipality, presented the annual activity report to the attendees of the meeting. This report includes all the work which has been completed in 2023 and other ongoing projects that are close to being completed.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mzia Giorgobiani, Majoritarian MP Zaza Lominadze, Chairman of the City Council Irakli Shengelia, local government and representatives of the society.
The Mayor Ioseb Khakhaleishvili while summing up the work done in Kutaisi Municipality during 2023 talked about the projects and programs that were successfully implemented and are benefiting a large number of people.
Mayor stated that “For Kutaisi Municipality council the year of 2023 was distinguished by the implementation of important projects, programs and active participation of Municipality in international forums, successfully overcoming the challenges and daily, pleasant news on its working etc.”
It is to be noted that In the year 2023, Kutaisi municipality became a member of the UNESCO network of creative cities in the field of literature. However the great cultural traditions of Kutaisi as one of the world’s oldest cities culture and our correctly selected development priorities for the year have led to the fact that an international organisation such as UNESCO considers Kutaisi worthy of becoming a new member of the network of creative cities on its list.
As per the information of the Mayor the yearly increased budget of the municipality has allowed us to increase the financing in different directions for development. At the same time this year in the city, with various financing measures, we have done infrastructure works worth up to 100 million Gel.
These infrastructure projects include the construction of Roads, sidewalks, squares and sports fields, which have been renovated, and several buildings with the status of cultural heritage have gained new life.
The Mayor further added that We had more than 6 million GEL allocated for social programs, which have benefited 25,000 beneficiaries so far in the municipality.
This year, the city has traditionally hosted several international festivals and forums. As per the Mayor, there is some important news for the city’s sports infrastructure under which many new sports complexes will be established. Similarly, Supporting education remains a priority.
Kutaisi Municipality has constantly been participating in international projects. During the current year of 2023, the city received more than 3 million GEL grants from international organisations for various projects.
At the conclusion of the event, the Mayor said “I would like to thank the Central Government of Georgia the Southern Administration of Imereti the Majoritarian MP of Kutaisi Zaza Lominadze the City Council for supporting the city at different stages and providing better budget allocation”.
He additionally stated that We have even more new development projects and programs planned for 2024 including those that we have been waiting for decades, and we should be able to fulfil that expectation together! ” Shengelia Arena” hosted the meeting of the Mayor of Kutaisi on the presentation of activities for the year 2023.
