Georgia: A meeting was held at the Mtskheta Municipality City Hall to share knowledge, information, and practice on municipal programs and to promote joint service delivery. An inter-municipal social platform was established in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
The meeting was opened by ATEA Vice-President and Mayor of Dusheti Municipality Matsatso Narimanidze and Mayor of Mtskheti Municipality Dimitri Zurabishvili.
The establishment of the platform, a significant initiative led by the National Association of Local Self-Government of Georgia, is a unifying force for all four municipalities of Mtskheta-Mtianeti.
During the meeting, speakers, including the Vice President of ATEA-Matsatso Narimanidze, Deputy Executive Director of the Association Lasha Archvadze, and Expert of the Council of Europe Nino Zurabishvili, shared insights on the need to promote the timely implementation of delegated powers to municipalities, underlining the crucial role of ATEA in this process.
In the meeting, they had the privilege of hearing from esteemed individuals in the field. Alongside the Vice President of ATEA – Matsatso Narimanidze, they had the Deputy Executive Director of the Association, Lasha Archvadze, an expert in local governance, and Nino Zurabishvili, a renowned Expert of the Council of Europe.
Also present were the first persons and representatives of the respective services of the Autonomous Units of Mtskheta, Dusheti, Tianeti and Kazbegi, all of whom brought valuable insights to the discussion.
The first part of the meeting discussed the concept and rules of operation of the inter-municipal platform.
Mayor of Dusheti Municipality Matsatso Narimanidze shared the municipality’s rich experience in need-based social programming, a model that has proven successful in addressing the specific needs of our community.
This was followed by a productive discussion, during which the participants identified the agenda for the following platform session and discussed plans. Many expressed interest in learning from and potentially adopting Dusheti’s approach.
