The Black Sea water quality in Adjara is being monitored continuously.  Pridon Putkaradze, who is the Chairman of the Agrarian and Environmental Protection Committee of the Supreme Council of Adjara, attended the process of taking seawater samples.
Along with Pridon Putkaradze, the Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, Denis Salukvadze, and the First Deputy Head of the National Environment Agency, Tamar Sharashidze, were also present there.
The Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara shared the glimpses of the quality monitoring process of the Black Sea on its official Facebook Page on August 19, 2026, Wednesday. A small note about the process was also shared along with its glimpses.
According to the small note shared, it should be noted that continuous survey of seawater quality in the Adjara coastline is one of the most important mechanisms for controlling the safety and environmental conditions of the population and holidaymakers. The National Environment Agency conducts monthly seawater quality monitoring at 14 points, determining hydrobiological and chemical parameters.
The collected seawater samples are being examined in laboratories to assess the current condition of the Black Sea and ensure that any possible changes in water quality are identified in a timely manner.
In addition, the Laboratory Research Center of Adjara, in cooperation with the Adjara Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Authority, conducts monitoring of the Black Sea water once every 10 days at the Sarpi-Cholok section across 7 study points.
Studies include:
- Batumi central beach
- Water park area
- Kvariati
- Sarp
- Kobuleti central beach
- Bobokvati area
- Green conch
The studies began in May this year and will continue until the end of October. During the resort season, 98 samples are planned. According to laboratory studies, the quality of the seawater at this stage is within the allowed standards at all seven points of the coastline.
