Sagarejo Municipality, Georgia: Mayor of Sagarejo Municipality, Avtandil Gulikashvili, attended an event dedicated to Novruz Bayram celebration on 22 March, 2025, along with the Commissioner of Kakheti Party, Giorgi Aladashvili; Chairman of the City Council, Alexei Gilashvili; representatives of the local self-government and the head of the resource center, Lela Fanozishvili.
The event was held at the public school of the village Lambalo, Georgia. The students of the school presented the significance of the traditional holiday in the form of performance, offering an eye-catching cultural program.
Furthermore, the Mayor of Sagarejo Municipality congratulated Azerbaijani citizens on Nowruz Bayram celebrations and on the arrival of spring season. He wished them a happy holiday and thanked the teachers, students, and parents who organized the event.
Mayor Avtandil Gulikashvili wished everyone success, prosperity and wealth and said that each Georgian citizen celebrates this holiday regardless of ethnic or religious connection, as everyone is united by the desire for peace and prosperity.Â

Novruz Bayram
Novruz Bayram is a holiday celebrated on March 21 and it marks the start of spring as well as the spring equinox. In accordance with the law, workers receive five days of paid leave to celebrate Novruz Bayram.Â
A month leading up to the festival, on every Tuesday people start celebrating the four elements: water, fire, wind and soil. People clean their homes, plant new trees, sew new clothes, paint eggs, and prepare pastries like shekerbura, pakhlava, and shorgoghal, as well as other dishes from the national cuisine.Â
People also indulge in different activities during this holiday. For instance, they celebrate traditional events ‘Kos-kosa’, ‘Khidir Ilyas’ and different types of fortune telling accompanying them with music. Folk singers showcase their musical talent and wrestlers join together to display their strength against one another.
