Tbilisi: To mange working of slaughterhouses, an information meeting was held recently to discuss the issue of safe slaughterhouses and problems of waste management. This was organised by the national food agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
The national food agency also took to their social media handles and shared glimpses of this significant meeting. As per official Facebook statement “Information meeting held on issues of animal slaughterhouses and farm waste management. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the National Food Agency organized a meeting with the business sector.”
It further stated, It this important meeting many relevant issues were discussed which involves the requirements stipulated by the legislation on animal slaughterhouses and farm waste management. The meeting was attended by Deputy Ministers of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Kakha Kakabadze and Solomon Pavliashvili.
At the meeting all key speakers and attendee focused on the current situation and challenges being faced by slaughterhouses. They demanded that centre and local government need to fix issues of industry as soon as possible.
Kakha Kakabadze in his address underlined “Our goal is to discuss openly and find ways for the state to ensure that slaughterhouses meet both the established safety standards and existing waste management requirements. In this direction, the Ministry will continue to work on creating a model acceptable to everyone,”
Similarly Solomon Pavliashvili in his address said that, The active communication with the business sector regarding the decisions taken by the state will continue. The involvement of the private sector is of paramount importance. Animal waste management is one of the most difficult challenges and requires a complex approach.
He also highlighted that, it is necessary to involve all institutions, the private sector and specialists in the field. The private sector has its obligations and the state, in turn is ready to offer various support programs, information about which was presented today.
The meeting was held in a question and answer format. The requirements stipulated by the legislation about waste Management Code as well as co-financing programs determined by the state were also discussed.
