Mikheil Dundua, the deputy minister of Finance has chaired a high-level meeting. This was first meeting of the Inter-agency council for the development of the state internal financial control system. The meeting was held at the ministry of Finance of Georgia.
The main objective behind this meeting was to discuss and agree on the goals of the draft strategy for the development of the state internal financial control system. The projects under this draft strategy will be held for next three years from between 2025 to 2028.
As per the information development of the system is envisaged by the association agreement between Georgia and the European Union. Moreover, this is one of significant pre-condition for Georgia’s integration with the European Union.
The successful implementation of the reform requires a consistent government policy and support from the top management of public agencies. The participation pf meeting discusses this need of consistent governance policy.
This steps in this direction will be ensured by the Interagency Council and will promote the coordinated and uniform implementation of the reform throughout the country.
It is worth noting that the development of the State Internal Financial Control System is one of the key components of the ongoing public governance and public finance management reforms in the public sector of the country.
As it is a well-functioning internal control system that ensures the legal, transparent, economical and effective use of budget funds so it is required to be implemented without any delay.
Notably the members of the Interagency Council are the Deputy Ministers of 12 central ministries. These includes the ministers of finance of the Adjara and Abkhazia Autonomous Republics, as well as the Deputy Heads of the Administration of the Government of Georgia.
Similarly it also have minister from the state audit service, the anti-corruption bureau, and the civil service bureau. All the participants of meeting reiterated their commitments for financial stability of country with all consistent efforts.
