Tbilisi: Within the framework of the unified event dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will host citizens in Batumi, near the Alphabet Tower.
The process of preparation for May 26 has been actively underway since the morning. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Alexander Darakhvelidze got acquainted with the preparations for Independence Day.
The event, which will be organized by the government administration, will start at 14:00. In the vicinity of the Alphabet Tower, various departments of the Ministry of Interior will present information and exhibition stands, as well as special equipment, equipment and border police helicopters of the Patrol Police Department, Border Police and Emergency Management Service.
During the event, a number of thematic information-information activities are planned for children, and entertainment areas will be arranged.
At 17:10, exactly at the time when Noah Jordan declared Georgia’s Independence in 1918, the anthem of Georgia will be played.
The event will end with an evening concert.
The Mayor of the Georgian Capital, Kakha Kaladze, extended Independence Day wishes over his social media handle.
Kaladze wrote: “Today is May 26, Georgia’s Independence Day!Today is our day, for each of us, for whom homeland and freedom are precious.
The love of freedom is a power that has made our centuries-old nation endure, created the greatest culture, did not bow down in the face of many plagues or tribulations and laid the firm foundation of the Georgian state.
May 26 is the day of our hero soldiers, whose fight and sacrifice brought Independence to Georgia. May 26 is the day of our brothers and sisters who live beyond occupation lines and know exactly what war and occupation bring.
May 26 is the day of our European future, which will remind the world once again how far this small and largest country has come; how much it fought, how much it worked for freedom, to preserve its identity, for tomorrow’s European Day. Happy Independence Day of Georgia!
At the same time, the Ombudsman of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, also remarked on the struggle behind achieving Independence,Â
Ioseliani noted, “The struggle for Independence has never been easy, it’s still the case today and will always be; securing Independence requires daily hard work and dedication.
 Thanks to our ancestors who fought for freedom and brought Georgia to this day. Happy May 26, Independence Day, I wish our country progress and victory.”
