NGO Women Information Centre congratulates on World Hijab Day

Tbilisi:  A renowned Non-governmental organisation of Georgia, the Women Information Centre congratulated citizens on international Hijab Day. Every year February 1 is celebrated as international hijab day.

NGO took to their social media handle and stated, “February 1 is International Hijab Day. There are about two billion Muslims on earth, and probably half of them are women. World Hijab Day is celebrated to promote religious tolerance and understanding between different faiths and communities.

Certain societies impose strict requirements for wearing the hijab, while others afford more freedom in this matter. The tradition of celebrating this day has been established since 2013 in different countries worldwide, thanks to Bangladeshi Nazma Khan, and it is now recognised as an international day”.

World hijab day was founded in 2013. It was founded by Nazma Khan.This day is celebrated in 140 countries. It was introduced to make the hijab popular among women.

Nazma Khan, a Bangladeshi American, also started during the launch of Hijab Day. The main aim of the day is to ” raise awareness and normalise the wearing of a hijab”.This is to be added that many countries’ strict regulations have been placed against the hijab.

Evan some Western and European countries have also launched the drive against the wearing of the Hijab.

Many times women also get attacked for wearing hijab. The founder of the event also said that this day would also boost the religious tolerance among the other people about the hijab.

It is to be specifically mentioned that in 2017, New York State, United States of America, recognised the world hijab day.

The NGO members also termed this day as an opportunity to show the world the importance attached to the Hijab. However, this will also remove the misconception about the Hijab. 

Many organisation across the globe celebrate this day as well to raise the awareness about hijab.
