Tbilisi: The Minister of Environment and Agriculture Otar Shamugia met the World Bank permanent representative in the South Caucasus region Ronald Price.

At this important meeting with the official of World Bank the parties discussed ongoing projects and future cooperation issues with the support of the World Bank in the country in the field of agriculture and environmental protection.

The Georgian minister of environment protection and agriculture Otar Shamugia spoke about the importance of cooperation with the World Bank and focused on the challenges in the country in terms of development infrastructure, land management, and agricultural development. At the same time the results of the already implemented program achieved through joint projects were also discussed by the both the parties on this occasion as well.

The Minister Otar Shamugia also said “In the process of reforming Georgia’s irrigation sector supported by the World Bank, “Georgia’s Sustainable Agriculture, Irrigation and Land Project” plays a special role. I think with maximum cooperation and coordination, we can effectively implement common goals, overcome challenges and achieve better results”.

Ronald Price noted Georgia and the World Bank have been connected by successful cooperation over the years and in the future, relations will deepen even more. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Tengiz Nasaridze representatives of the relevant services of the Ministry and the World Bank.

Many projects are being implemented by the World Bank in the Georgia. Many projects are related to the sustainable development and irrigation needs of the country especially rural areas and land projects aimed to improve the land pattern and land reforms of the country as well.

The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia has expressed his gratitude towards the representative of the World Bank. He also expressed hopes that shortly more such efforts will be taken by the World Bank to promote the development of Georgia.
