Georgia: Agency for Protected Areas signs Grant agreements with  Caucasus Nature Foundation

The agency of the protected areas of Georgia has signed grant agreement with the Caucasus Nature Foundation(CNF). These significant agreements provide for the number of provision of operational costs of the territorial administrations of the Agency of Protected Areas.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the agreements were signed by the Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture  Yuri Nozadze, Acting Chairman of the Protected Areas Agency, Besik Kusid, and Executive Director of the Caucasus Nature Foundation, Elizabeth Mesud.

Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture  Yuri Nozadze stated “These Agreements have been signed between the Agency of Protected Areas and the Caucasus Nature Foundation. The term for a period of 6 years which will provide the administrations of the protected areas with operating costs  and the employees with salary supplements”.

Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture  Yuri Nozadze also said “ Over the years the Agency for Protected Areas has successfully cooperated with the Caucasus Nature Foundation (CNF) in the direction of the development of the infrastructure of the protected areas as well as institutional strengthening of the Agency and raising the motivation of employees. As a result  many successful initiatives were implemented in the protected areas of Georgia”.

It should be noted that in 2023 the Agency of Protected Areas received more than 7 million GEL of funding from the Caucasus Nature Fund for the implementation of environmental-related projects in the country.

Similarly several grant agreements have been signed between both parties which meet the needs of the protected areas agency and contribute to the proper fulfillment of the set goals. On this occasion both sides have made it clear that they will make their best efforts for the successful implementation of the terms and conditions of the executed agreement as well.

The official of the Agency on this occasion also explained the progress of various projects and policies that are being executed by the Agency of Protected Areas.
