Georgia: Explosion reported in capital Tbilisi

On Wednesday a gas leak explosion was reported from Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia. The official of emergency management services said there was no casualty due to the explosion.

On Wednesday a gas leak explosion was reported from Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia. The official of emergency management services said there was no casualty due to the explosion.

As per the ground reports a suspected gas leak has caused an explosion in a residential building. These residential buildings fall in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi and faced the incident on the night of Wednesday to Thursday.

There was no report of casualty or any other injury as per the information provided by Levan Museliani the head of the Tbilisi Main Division of the Emergency Situations Management Service on Thursday.

It is to be added that the explosion took place in a commercial area. The commercial space located just on the first floor of the building on Samtredia Street in Didube District was damaged due to this.

The head Museliani said all citizens had been evacuated from the building following a “timely response” by rescuers and firefighters. He thanked the local workers and public for the support of emergency staff staff for the successful rescue operation as well.

Meanwhile after the incident and in his comments to the media an elected MP from the District Givi Chkhartishvili added that the Administration of the District and the Tbilisi City Hall would provide accommodation for the residents of the building to mitigate their problems.

It is to be added that the explosion also caused damage to several floors in the building as well. The building belongs to a supermarket chain store. The repair work was being done before the opening of the store. The explosion caused huge damage at the spot.

The cars and other vehicles parked outside the building got damaged. The debris fell on the parked vehicle on the ground. The entire space is filled with fallen debris as well. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies and other related agencies cordoned off the areas and began the investigation to extract the truth behind the incident.

Some reports now made it clear that this was not a case of natural gas leakage. The social media users also expressed sympathy with the victim of the explosion.
