Koka Katsitadze meets Georgian minister of education, science and youth

The head of the special investigation services of Georgia Koka Katsitadze met with the minister of education, science, and youth of Georgia namely Giorgi Amilakhvari. Both sides discussed the measures for the cooperation to enhance the awareness among the school children for the protection of their right to privacy.

The head of the special investigation services of Georgia Koka Katsitadze met with the minister of education, science, and youth of Georgia namely Giorgi Amilakhvari. Both sides discussed the measures for the cooperation to enhance the awareness among the school children for the protection of their right to privacy.

At the meeting the head of the agency and minister also discussed a joint project between the Special Investigations Service and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth. This special project is aimed at raising awareness about protecting the private life of minors, on the way of an information campaign in schools.

It was noted during the meeting that in order to uncover the facts of privacy and raise the awareness of minors privacy the coordinated work of both agencies and the inclusion of more schools in this project throughout Georgia is important.

It is to be added that as a part of the project meetings in schools which were began in December 2023 were being led by investigators and probation officials and provided detailed information to schoolchildren regarding mass-predatory crimes.

At the meeting the parties further discussed future cooperation between the agencies and actions to be implemented for the protection of crime related to violation of privacy. They agreed that various events will be planned and implemented within the framework of the information campaign to raise awareness among minors.

The incidents of the violation of private life have risen in the past years. The prosecutor agency recently booked many accused who misused the private information of the minors. They also try to use this information for the sexual harassment of the children’s as well.

The Georgian laws are very strict with regard to violation of rights to privacy as well. The important meeting was held at the Ministry office attended by the Deputy Head of the Special Investigation Service Natia Songulashvili and Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth Gela Geladze also.
