Adjara: To improve citizens’ travel experiences 100 new buses have been provided to Batumi and Khelvachauri Municipalities. The new buses were handed over to the municipality’s administration at an impressive event.
Tornike Rizhvadze the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara attended the bus handover ceremony. He was accompanied by Archil Chikovani the Mayor of Batumi Municipality and Zaza Diasamidze the Mayor of Khelvachauri.
During the ceremony the Chairman of the Autonomous region of Adjara inspected the renovated parking space along with the Mayor. At the same time the chairman of the government spoke about the prospects of municipal transport development and noted that the renewal of the city’s car park and the development of services will continue in the future.
It is worth noting that some of the minibusses will serve 64 villages of Khelvachauri municipality. Moreover with 38 remaining units of minibuses 5 new city routes will be created which will run on the joined territories of Batumi. The administration has also hired new drivers. Today 250 drivers will be employed on the new minibusses.
Notably from 2018 to 2023 the Batumi municipal transport fleet was updated with 150 new buses during the last five years. Eight of these 150 buses were electric buses. Plans to import 25 units of M3 category 12-meter “EURO 5” standard bus in the near future will improve overall connectivity in both municipalities.
On this occasion the Chairman along with both Mayors also test drivied new buses. They were deeply impressed by the latest bus technology. All the new buses are very special and specious which will add an extra edge to commuters comfort.
Meanwhile the Chairman also addressed the present representatives of Adjara and both municipalities. He appreciated the drivers for their dedication to their profession and motivated them to do their duty with honesty and make travelers’ travel experiences memorable.
