Georgia: Employees of the Personal Data Protection Service (PDPS) took part in a week of work meetings in Brussels entitled “Personal Data Protection Academy for the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership Regions.”
During the event, Nikoloz Popiashvili, Head of the Office of the Chief of the Service Office, and Head of the Department of International Relations, Analytics and Strategic Development Ana Tokhadze talked about the new legislative regulation of personal data protection, the process of implementation of the law and current trends, as well as the future determined towards institutional development On to the plans.
The strategic tasks for the next year of work were emphasized in the view of deepening international relations, the “European Conference on Personal Data Protection” and the “International Working Group for Data Protection in Technology” meeting.
In cooperation with the European Commission Justice and Consumers General Directorate (DG JUST), the representatives of the personal data protection supervisory bodies of participating countries discussed legislative regulations, modern practices and challenges facing them.
Also, discussed the EU uniform implementation of the “Basic Data Protection Regulation“, EU-wide public sector supervision, EUROJUST and EUROPOL practices and supervisory authorities’ experience with contemporary challenges.
During the event, participants of the Academy met with the Chairman of the European Council of Data Protection (“EDPB”), the European Union Data Protection Supervisor” (“EDPS”), the Secretary-General of the Supervisor, as well as the representative of the Council of Europe (CoE) Personal Data Protection Authority.
The event is under the initiative and support of the Public “Regional School of Governance” (ReSPA), EU and ETGO “Support for Improvement of Governance and Management” Program (SIGMA/OECD), “Regional Cooperation Council” (RCC) and German International Cooperation Society (GIZ), as well as within the framework of the project – “EaP Regional Fund for Public Administration Reform“, DG JU of the European Commission Implemented in collaboration with ST.
