Brussels, Belgium: The head of the Personal Data Protection Service (PDPS), Lela Janashvili attended the plenary session of the “European Data Protection Council” (“EDPB”) which was held in the first week of December, in Brussels.
At the 99th plenary meeting, the Council discussed the adoption of guidelines for the transfer of data to third countries within Article 48 of the EU’s “Basic Regulation of Data Protection” and the work of one of the Council’s working groups working on the interpersonal direction of data protection and the law.
Also, among other issues, the session discussed the actions of the EU’s “basic regulation of data protection” on the second report of the European Commission. At the meeting, the Personal Data Protection Service is also represented by Ana Tokhadze, Head of the Department of International Relations, Analytics and Strategic Development of the Service.
It should be noted that the Personal Data Protection Service always participates in the activities of the “European Data Protection Council” under the status of observer, which was granted by the decision of the members of the Council on June 20, 2023.
The Council plays an essential role in ensuring effective protection of personal data protection regulations across the EU and in establishing consistent, best practices of the Data Protection Supervisory Authority; in particular, making decisions with binding legal force, publishing opinions, consulting the European Commission on any issue of personal data protection in the EU, as well as shame Disregards the manual principles and recommendations.
