The former Minister of Technology, Youth, and Sports of St Kitts and Nevis, Glen Ghost Phillip, passed away on Thursday morning, August 1, 2024.
Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew and other Cabinet members hosted a sitting parliament to express sadness over Glen Ghost Phillip’s sudden passing.
PM Drew highlighted Glen’s dual talents as a politician and a very talented athlete. He specifically noted Glen’s instrumental role in St Kitts and Nevis hosting the first CPL Cricket Finals at Warner Park, a moment of national pride.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas, also extended condolences to Glen Phillips’s family, children, relatives, and friends. He wished God to provide strength and peace to the family during this challenging period.
Dr Denzil Douglas, called him a ‘sports giant’ and said, “We wish we didn’t have to say goodbye to a sports Giant so early, the late Glen “Ghost” Phillip, former MP Constituency #4 and Member of my Cabinet 2010-2015.”
The country’s prime minister, expressing his grief on social media, shared a personal connection with Glen. He wrote, “It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Hon. Glen ‘Ghost’ Phillip. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and friends. I joined Glen as a candidate on the SKNLP ticket in 2013. He was always supportive and encouraging.”
He admires that great personality by writing about his contribution to the nation as a Member of Parliament. He wrote that Glen, a prominent basketball player, will always be remembered.
PM Terrance Drew, on behalf of a grateful nation, expressed profound thanks for all Glen has contributed. He stated that Glen’s legacy, filled with significant achievements, will continue to inspire the whole country, and they will be forever grateful for his service.
He wished That his soul may rest in eternal peace.
