Georgia: Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held a meeting with the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Karen Donfried, to discuss some issues and further bolster the partnership.
The main topics discussed during the meeting were the firm support of the United States for Georgia, the strategic partnership between the two countries and the integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
The head of the government noted that the visit of the Assistant Secretary of State is another clear message of the unwavering support of the United States to Georgia, and the country especially appreciates it. According to him, Georgia is and remains the most reliable and loyal ally of the United States, both in the region and abroad.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of further strengthening the Georgia-US strategic partnership, including through the intensification of the Georgia-US high-level political dialogue, as well as in defence and security, trade, economic and investment areas.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister, the unwavering and firm support of the United States for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, was reiterated.
According to the head of the government, the will of the Georgian government and the Georgian people to integrate the country into European and Euro-Atlantic structures is unshakable.
In addition, the sides discussed the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine. The conversation also focused on the situation in the region and the important role of Georgia in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
The meeting at the Government Administration was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America Kelly Degnan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili and the Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze.
