Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia once again highlighted the importance of the “Georgian Charter” signed in May by opposition parties. The President called upon all opposition parties to adhere terms of the charter that can bring the country back on its track to the European Union.

The President discussed Gakharia-Khazaradze talks of two opposition parties and stated “Although the agreement still not executed, but it set a precedent for compromise between all parties for the welfare of the country.”

According to the President the country is facing many problems. However one big challenge is the lack of consensus among most parties. So the Georgian charter is not just a piece of paper; it is a document that all the parties with a pro-western approach signed in May this year for joint efforts.

While speaking on the opposition parties the President added specifically “The opposition parties cannot ignore the Georgian Charter. This charter is “instrument of unity and road for Georgia towards the European Union.”

According to the President citizens must come forward to cast their votes. The opposition parties if comes to power will repeal all anti-people laws adopted by Georgian Dream.

She also expressed hopes that after the election, the new regime will review the current party’s policies to create a system that will give a new life to those who were fined or detained illegally for protests.

She urged all the citizens across the country to vote for a stable and strong government. President criticised the ruling regime for adoption for foreign agent’s law.

It is worth noting that the President vetoed controversial “foreign agent law.” The Georgian opposition parties also criticized the ruling regime for its anti-people policies.

The opposition blamed the ruling Georgian Dream for stifling independent media voices with the foreign agent’s law. However ruling party claims that law has been introduced to bring transparency in foreign funding.
