Georgia: The Dean of the School of Law and Public Administration of the International Black Sea University, Professor Irakli Shamatava attended the annual general assembly of the Association of Law Faculties of Europe (ELFA) which was held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
The theme of the conference “ELFA 30 years: Legal Education in Traditions and Modernity” was presented by panel discussions and reports that discussed the evolution of legal education over the past thirty years, innovative teaching methods and the influence of technology (artificial intelligence) on legal education; and the International Legal Education Ionalization and the role of ELFA in this process.
Irakli Shamatava met with foreign colleagues and made new links with leading universities of Bulgaria and the world in order to develop the law program and future cooperation. For this purpose, the Dean was present in St. At Clement Orhidel University of Sofia, where he got to know the specifics of the law faculty, as well as library and administrative resources. The professor had various meetings in cultural-educational institutions and museums.
It was decided on ELFA conference that on April 15-17 of 2026, Elfa General Assembly will be held in Bilbao, Spain. Also, at the conference ELFA new president, vice-president, renewed governing board and next year’s budget were elected.
For information, since 2019 the School of Law and Public Administration of the International Black Sea University became a member of the Association of European Law Faculties (ELFA). The Association of Law Faculties of Europe (ELFA) was founded in 1995 in Levon, by law faculties from more than 80 European universities. Today the organization has more than 150 members outside European countries and beyond.
