Georgia: As part of the second phase of the project “Prometheus,” supported by the European Union, the patrol police department staff and the academy instructors conducted a five-day training course on the detection of fake documents at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The project leader, the representative of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Latvian Police Attaché in Georgia, who played a crucial role in sharing their expertise, welcomed the training participants.

During the training, led by Latvian experts, participants were actively engaged in practical discussions on issues such as modern techniques of document forgery. The focus was on real-world scenarios, including methods of forging EU and Schengen driving licenses, Latvian travel documents, and biometric passports. The practical exercises provided hands-on experience in detecting fraudulent documents, ensuring the participants felt engaged and active in the project’s effectiveness.

The EU-funded project ‘Prometheus’ (Phase Two)-is a testament to the value and importance of the work in Georgia. In close cooperation with the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the International Technical Cooperation Office of the French Ministry of the Interior – CIVIPOL, the project will be implemented in 2022, a project that each one should be proud to be a part of.

Its aim is to strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in border and migration management, as well as the fight against organized crime. Each participant is an integral and valued part of this crucial process, contributing to the success of the ‘Prometheus’ project.

Project Prometheus

NASA established Project Prometheus in 2003 to develop nuclear-powered systems for long-duration space missions. This was NASA’s first serious foray into nuclear spacecraft propulsion since the cancellation of the SNTP project in 1995.
