Tbilisi: The office of prosecutor has charged two persons for attempt to murder. The incident took place on January 20, 2025, at night.
On receiving initial reports inquiry was carried out by Ministry of Internal Affairs. The invest established that on January 20, at night, a report was received by the Public Security Management Centre 112 in Batumi regarding a person with mental problems.
The officials of the ministry immediately swung into action. Moreover, based on the report, three patrol inspectors of the Adjara Main Division of the Patrol Police Department arrived at the scene. The accused suddenly attacked the police officers with a knife with the aim of killing them and inflicting life-threatening injuries.
The investigation also revealed that the accused was arrested by law enforcers on very next day of incident. He was charged under Part 3 of Article 19-353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The articles imposed against accused considered as one of strict provision of Georgia criminal law. The article 19-353 define offence of attempted murder in connection with the official activities of a police officer. If on conclusion of trial accused to be guilty by court they can sentence to a jail term 16 to 20 years of imprisonment.
It is worth to mention the prosecution office of Georgia has taken to its social media handles to share information on this regard. Notably the prosecution office has taken many initiative to stop violent incident in country.
The office is working round the clock to ensure law and order in order in country. The officials of prosecution office in coordination of other law enforcement agencies has taken steps in this direction as well.
It is also to be noted that last year many violent incident took place during protest against foreign agents law. The prosecution office has dealt with such incidents very strictly and brought culprits to justice.
