The work of reconstructing the Khulo-Zarzmi section on the Batumi (Angisa)—Akhaltsikhi highway is going on in full swing. The road have great domestic importance. Its total distance is 47 kilometers, which will make the journey hassle-free for the residents of both cities as well.
In total rehabilitation and reconstruction are carried out on 47 kilometers of road. The construction work has been completed on the 21 km section while the work for the remaining 26 km section is in full swing.
According to the company representative, the asphalt-concrete paving work on the road will be actively started this month. At the same time work is also being actively carried out on the landslide sections, where necessary steps are being taken to prevent any untoward incident.
The official of the construction company expressed hopes that the work would be completed within the deadline. However, the main work for the main part of the landslide-vulnerable section will be completed in next few days also.
It is also worth noting that the renovated Khulo-Zarzmi road will connect the regions of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Adjara in the shortest way. It will save the traveling time of the traveler who wants to visit the either city.
Moreover, the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road project will contribute to improving the socio-economic condition of the Zemo Adjara and Samtskhe-Javakheti population and developing tourism.
At the same time the rehabilitation work will improve traffic safety. In addition to the updated route the travel time from Batumi to Akhaltsikhe will be reduced by 1.5 hours which means people can save money.
It must be noted that the rehabilitation section of the road starts from Khulo township and passes through the Goderdze pass, and reaches the village of Zarzma in the Adigeni region.
The construction company has engaged many heavy machines for the work. Many heavy earth-moving machines are working round the clock to complete the work within the stipulated time.
