Georgia: PM Garibashvili inspects ongoing rehabilitation works of Gori Central Avenue

Georgia: The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, together with the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, within the framework of the Shida Kartli regional tour, got instructed on the ongoing rehabilitation works of Gori Central Avenue.

Georgia: The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, together with the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, within the framework of the Shida Kartli regional tour, got instructed on the ongoing rehabilitation works of Gori Central Avenue.

According to the information, the entire project will cost around 14.4 million GEL. The project will be completed in the summer, and the rehabilitation of the nearby park is already planned.

Within the framework of the projects financed by the “Renewed Regions” program, the energy efficiency component of the buildings was strengthened, and the doors and windows of the buildings were replaced, which had a positive impact on the heating costs of the buildings. Sidewalks, lights, and recreational spaces were arranged.

It should be noted that the rehabilitation of Akhalbaghi ​​Park in Gori will be completed in the summer, the works of which were financed by the World Bank with 9.1 million GEL. 

The project includes:

  • Landscaping of the parking area.
  • Rehabilitation of existing panchayats and creation of new ones.
  • Arrangement of new hiking trails.

Rehabilitation of administrative and other buildings and arrangement of an existing artificial lake and sports zone is also envisaged.

In addition, the rehabilitation of the historic Royal Street in Gori has been completed. The project was funded by the World Bank with GEL 2.1 million and provided for the arrangement of the carriageway, sidewalks, drainage, lighting, and road signs.

According to the head of the government, the mentioned large-scale works will make the city more attractive for tourists.

On the initiative of the Prime Minister, the 4-year program of “Renewed Regions” covers 63 municipalities of Georgia and its approximate value of the first stage alone amounted to 500 million GEL.

At this stage, the tender for the second phase of the Renewed Regions program has already been announced for infrastructure projects to be implemented in Kvareli, Telavi, Sighnaghi, Dedoplistskaro, Gurjaani, Vani, Khoni, Rustavi, Gori, Poti, Kutaisi, Tkibuli and Batumi.

Representatives of the executive, legislative and local authorities got instructed on the rehabilitation works together with Irakli Garibashvili.
