Georgia: Police seizes illegal firearms, detains 3 individuals

Georgia: Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs recently seized illegal firearms and ammunition in the Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and Guria regions and arrested three people as a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative activities.

Georgia: Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs recently seized illegal firearms and ammunition in the Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and Guria regions and arrested three people as a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative activities.

Law enforcers from the Shida Kartli Police Department’s Gori District Division detained previously convicted L.V. (DoB, 1980) on charges of illegally purchasing, storing, and transporting firearms and ammunition. As evidence, automatic guns, 14 magazines, and 441 cartridges were seized.

I.K. (DoB, 1983) was arrested by authorities from the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department’s Dusheti District Division on charges of illegally purchasing and storing firearms and ammunition. Law enforcement officers seized an automatic handgun, two magazines, and 20 cartridges as evidence during the search of the detainee’s home.

Guria Police Department’s Lanchkhuti and Ozurgeti divisions detained previously convicted G.B. (DoB, 1999) for illegally purchasing, storing, and transporting firearms and ammunition. During his personal check, police discovered a Browning weapon and ammunition.

The sentence for the offence committed ranges from 3 to 7 years in prison.

The details regarding the illegal purchase, storage, and carrying of firearms and ammunition are being investigated under Georgia’s Criminal Code Article 236, III, and IV.
