Jerusalem Patriarch awards PM Irakli Garibashvili with honours on visit

The Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilus III on Monday awarded Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili with the Order of the Knight of the Holy Sepulcher of Christ and the decorated cross of the Savior.

The Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilus III on Monday awarded Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili with the Order of the Knight of the Holy Sepulcher of Christ and the decorated cross of the Savior.

The Patriarch of Jerusalem hosted the Head of the Government of Georgia, together with the delegation, at the Patriarchate.

The Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, Theophilus III, awards the Order of the Knight of the All-Holy Sepulcher of Christ and the decorated cross of our Savior, the Prime Minister of Georgia- To the Minister, His Excellency Irakli Garibashvili, as a friend of the Brotherhood of the All-Holy Sepulcher of the Savior and the guardian of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ,” – It is mentioned in the document signed by the Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine Theophilus III, which was read by the Secretary of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Archbishop Aristarchus, at the award ceremony.



The Patriarch of Jerusalem noted that he was pleased with the visit of the leader of the Orthodox country.

“We are pleased to present you with the Holy Cross resting on the tomb of Jesus Christ, so that you may always be protected and always be inspired by this Savior, righteous and upright cross,” said Patriarch Theophilus III.

The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked Patriarch Theophilus III for the award and for his personal contribution to the transfer of a plot of land near the Jordan River, near the place of the baptism of the Savior, where a Georgian cultural centre will be built.



Irakli Garibashvili also stressed the strong historical ties between the Georgian and Jerusalem churches and the special importance of the visit of Patriarch Theophilus III to Georgia.

The Patriarch of Jerusalem blessed the Head of the Government of Georgia and the members of the delegation and wished them success.
