Georgia: The National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Georgia is leading restoration works in the Alaverdi Monastery Complex.
The installation of an anti-seismic belt on the gatebell, with the direct participation of architects, restorers, and constructors, has been completed. The damaged tin tire is being removed from the dome at this stage.
The Episcopal House is continuing to install chromite roofing, reconstruct the staircase structure, and arrange the water supply system.
After inspecting the site, the specialists developed the methodology of pinning the crosses directly on the Alaverde Cathedral and the gate-bell dome, and the ceremony of carrying the cross on the gate-bell is planned in the near future.

- June 25 damaged the tin roof of the dome of the Alaverde Cathedral, and orphan stones were broken in various places on the northern lap.
- The cramite roofs have been damaged.
- The west side of the cathedral and the dome mirrors are broken.
- The tin roofs of the bell tower and the Episcopal House are damaged.
- The palace’s balcony was demolished from the dome. The cross was destroyed, and the surrounding area’s infrastructure was damaged.
In agreement with representatives of the Diocese of Alaverde and the agency, scaffolding around the cathedral has begun and continues so that the specialists can fully work.

As the public knows, on June 26, Georgian Minister of Culture and Sports Thea Tsulukiani visited Alaverdi with Nikoloz Aznaurashvili, General Director of the National Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage of Georgia. They got acquainted with the situation caused by the natural disaster.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze learned about the situation in the Alaverdi monastery complex, which was damaged by the earthquake on July 7. Nikoloz Aznaurashvili, Director General of the National Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage of Georgia, and Metropolitan David of Abba Alaverde provided detailed information to the Head of Government.
