Nino Latsabidze, the Mayor of Rustavi city hall participated in the national urban forum of Georgia in Tbilisi. The participants discussed various issues related to the spatial planning of Georgian cities.
After attending the forum Nino Latsabidze stated “ At the National Urban Forum of Georgia we have discussed the spatial planning of Georgian cities in detail. Moreover we also focused on one of the most important issues for the people of Rustavi which is the problem of transport moving from Rustavi to the capital city Tbilisi.”
She also added, “ We have already taken some steps in this regard together with the capital city (Tbilisi) administration and we hope that through the modernization of the transport system we will be able to create an even more comfortable environment for our residents in this direction for smooth movement of traffic.”
It is to be mentioned that the National Urban Forum of Georgia on the topic “Spatial Planning and Sustainability” was opened by the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia accompanied by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili.
According to him work on the concept of national spatial arrangement is actively underway at this stage. It will reflect the United Nations’ goals of sustainable development and redefine Georgia’s national priorities. At the ongoing Georgian National Urban Forum (GNUF) in Tbilisi, Rustavi Mayor Nino Latsabidze also spoke about the ongoing projects for the urban development of Rustavi and the need to modernize the transport moving towards the capital, which will greatly relieve commuters.
The forum’s opening event was attended by Katia Shafe, Interregional Advisor of the UN Resettlement Program, Ioane Menabde, Head of the Spatial and Urban Development Agency, representatives of public agencies and organizations, and experts in the field.
The event was attended by Koba Sambavishvili, head of the architecture department of Rustavi City Hall. The National Urban Forum of Georgia will work for two days in the Expo Georgia exhibition center. There are many other issues under consideration, which will be discussed thoroughly.
