SEOK honours Georgia’s top athletes of 2023 at Olympic Committee Meeting

With the support of the Ministry of Sports of Georgia, the accounting session of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia was held at the Pulman Tbilisi Axis Towers Hotel.

December 22, 2023: With the support of the Ministry of Sports of Georgia, the accounting session of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia was held at the Pulman Tbilisi Axis Towers Hotel. SEOK determines the awarding ceremony of the winners of the nominations according to the sports results in 2023. 

The event was attended by Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Thea Tsulukiani, President of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia Leri Khabelov, Georgian Parliament members and sports world representatives.

The winners were awarded in various nominations.

  • Discovery of 2023 – “Olympic hope” became Mariam Ragimova, a trampoline jumper.
  • Discovery of 2023 – Wrestler Giorgi Tokhadze became “Olympic Hope”.
  • Georgian Judoist National Team became the best sports team of 2023
  • Davit Qlibadze was awarded for his unique contribution to Georgian sports journalism.
  • Basketball player Tornike Shengelia became Georgia’s best sportsman in sports games in 2023.
  • Figure skater Anastasia Gubanova was awarded the title of the best female sportsman of 2023 Georgia.
  • Judo coach Lasha Gujejiani became the best coach in Georgia in 2023.
  • Sandro Bazadze was awarded for his consistently high sporting results at the Olympic Games World and European Championships, and European Games.
  • Bank of Georgia was named the winner in the nomination – “Main Supporter of Olympic Sport in 2023”.
  • Weightlifting Lasha Talakhadze became the best sportsman in Georgia in 2023.

In the “Pride of Georgian Sport” nomination, legendary bullet shooter Nino Salukvadze won. The Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, Thea Tsulukiani, gave the award to the talented athlete. It should be noted here that Nino Salukvadze is the first female athlete who will compete for the tenth time in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

A special award was given to the XVII European Youth Olympic Festival’s gold medalist, judoist Mate Gvelesiani, for his attention to the opponent.

Champions of these games, Zurab Kintsurashvili (Taekwondo) and Luka Shonia (Kickboxing) were awarded a special prize for the highest results achieved at the III European Games.
