Georgia: The SEOK President Leri Khabelov honored the Georgian athletes who gained Olympic opportunities at the 33rd Paris Summer Olympics on July 17, 2024, at the most important sports forum.
The SEOK President gave a speech at the forum. He said, “Olympia speaks for itself about the high qualification of an athlete, yet it is the best opportunity to represent your country in front of an audience of billions.”
“Any great sporting victory, especially those won at the Olympics, is considered by a sports fan a personal victory equal to his achievement. This is why we say that being an Olympian is a special responsibility, which our athletes are well aware of. They will come out in Paris and win on behalf of Georgia, on behalf of each of us,” mentioned Leri Khabelov.
He also stated, “Our country, the government, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and the Olympic Committee did everything to create the best conditions for Georgian athletes.”
According to him, Paris 2024 will be the eighth Olympics for independent Georgia. Since Atlanta, the country has won several significant victories at the Olympic Games.
He declared, “The Tokyo Olympics were the most hopeless, where we won 8 medals, including 2 gold medals. It is symbolic that this year’s Olympic Games are being held in the anniversary year of our Olympic Committee. We plan to have a comprehensive celebration of Seok’s 35th anniversary this autumn.”
“28 Georgian sportsmen will attend the Olympic Games of Paris. Although there have never been many Georgian teams at the Olympics, our team has always stood out for its fighting skills and dedication,” the minister stated.
The Georgian team is stellar, including four Olympic champions, Olympic silver and bronze medalists, and several European and World Championships medalists.
At last, he wished good luck to the athletes and said, “We are going to the French capital with a solid team. We are coming down to bring name and glory to Georgia! Our motto remains unchanged: “Better than in the previous Olympics. Good luck to our Olympians and our country. “
