Tbilisi: The Georgian National University hosted a public lecture on cyber security. The lecture was held as part of events to observe October 2024 as a cyber security month. This year’s theme is “Secure our World.”

The Georgian National University and the Digital Governance Agency organized the lecture. The seminar’s main objective was to raise students’ awareness about various aspects of cyber security.

The topics covered during the public lecture included cyber threats and methods of protection against them.

At the end of the meeting, a funny interactive quiz was held the winners of which were given symbolic gifts. The conference speakers were employees of the Cyber Security Department (National Cyber Incident Response Team CERT) of LSI’s “Digital Governance Agency.”

A significant number of students were present on this occasion and they learned many new and interesting facts related to cyber security. A demonstration was also held, using electronic gadgets to provide better perspectives on cyber security.

The key speaker of the event stressed that it is everyone’s responsibility to speak out against cybercrime. The advancement of technology also brought with it many challenges that need to be addressed immediately.

It is to be noted that due to the transitional nature of cybercrimes, it has become very difficult for security, investigation and law enforcement agencies to trace the offenders.

The international cybercriminals target foreign nationals. They mostly target illiterate people who don’t know the technical safety measures and how to implement them.

The cyber security experts urged the students to be extra cautious while surfing online so they could stay safe from cyber criminals.

Experts also told them that if they noted any suspicious activity on their electronic devices, local law enforcement and investigation agencies should be informed so that immediate action could be initiated as soon as possible.

On the other hand students also shared their own experiences and challenges they faced while using the online platform. They also thanked the lecture organizer for a wonderful lecture.
