A new dedicated cyber security center has been established at KIU (Kutaisi International University). The center has been established with the active support of the UNAID(United Nations Agency for International Development).
The center has been established as part of a UNAID project namely “Employers for Vocational Education. The center’s main objective is to train a qualified and economically competitive workforce in the cyber security sector.
As a result of the efforts in this direction, Kutiai International University has launched three different levels of short-term cyber security courses. The names of these cyber security-related courses is the Cyber Security Fundamentals, Ethical Hacking, and Ethical Hacking Practical Course.
It is worth mentioning that more than 700 participants were involved in the training program. Most of them were employed or promoted at work. It is also a very proud moment for the University that KIU has become a partner of the US-based EC Council.
The council is one of the world’s leading cybersecurity certification organizations. Moreover successful graduates of KIU’s cyber security training receive a voucher for the EC Council’s international certification exams.
The USAID Industry-led Skills Development Program and KIU skill-based courses are financed by the International Charitable Foundation “Kartu”. Some experts also addressed the meeting through the video conference.
The presentation organizer added that skill-oriented courses are the need of the hour. Furthermore students have to equip themselves with the latest skills that are in demand in the world’s job market.
A significant number of students presented during the seminar which was also held on the sidelines of the opening event of the Cyber security center. They stressed that the role of cyber experts has increased in the present world of digital technology with a particular focus on information technology.
Students who attended the seminar at KIU shared their positive feedback, describing it as a productive session where they learned many new things about cyber security. They also expressed their appreciation for the establishment of the cyber security center.
