SIS booked one for violence, threats and coercion

The Special Investigation Service has booked one member of law enforcement agencies, along co-accused for group violence, threats  and coercion.

The Special Investigation Service has booked one member of law enforcement agencies. The agency has booked him along with other co-accused for group violence, threats  and coercion.

On receiving the initial report  an inquiry was ordered. The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted the investigation in depth. The investigation established that an employee of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had a conflict with his neighbour since 2022.

Due to a previous grudge and conflict with his neighbour, he attacked his neighbour on August 10, 2024. At the time of the incident  the accused and the victim had a verbal argument which resulted in a physical confrontation.

Later the accused employee of law enforcement and his family member threw their neighbour-victim to the ground and inflicted physical injuries on different parts of the body. As a result of the violence of serious injury, the body suffered from bleeding.

Moreover after the violence the accused also threatened to kill the victim using a knife if he ever tried to report the said fact to the law enforcement agency. The Special Investigation Service immediately after reaching the victim conducted urgent investigative actions.

The agency also conducted a medical examination to determine the damage to the victim’s health. The persons involved were arrested and significant investigative actions were carried out. The agencies  based on this fact initiated action against the victim and his family members for group violence, threats to kill and coercion.

The action against all criminals was based on the resolution issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia. The agency representative said that the offense is being investigated under Article 126, Part 1 (Prima), Sub-paragraph “b,” Article 150, Part 1, and Article 151, Part 1 of the Civil Code of Georgia.

These are considered among the strictest legal provisions of Georgian law. The trial will take place now in a court of law. If the accused are found guilty of the abovementioned offense they can be sent to jail for up to 2 years.
