A special meeting of the Environment Protection Commission of Georgia held yesterday in Tbilisi. The number of issues included in the agenda was discussed thoroughly by all participants.
The meeting was conducted under the guidance of Nikoloz Kakheletelidze the chairman of the commission. At the meeting members of the Environmental Protection Commission supported the appointment of Paata Togonidze to the position of head of the Environmental Protection City Service of Tbilisi City Hall. The name was presented by the chairman of the commission, Nikoloz Kakhetelidze and validated by all participants as well.
On the other hand Giorgi Kobiashvili the director of the Animal Monitoring Agency issued a electronic fine receipt for the violation provided for in Article 103 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
In addition to the issues mentioned at the session of the Environmental Protection Commission the deputy head of the Transport and Urban Development Agency of Tbilisi Municipality Nino Bagashvili introduced the amendments to the resolutions of Tbilisi Municipality Council “On approval of the capital’s land use master plan” to the members of the commission.
In the beginning the chairman read out the agenda of the meeting. Later all the attending members of the commission discussed it. They also discussed the issues of climate change and its direct or indirect effects on Georgiann’s environment in details. The majority of members said that strict measures for environmental protection are required.
The danger of pollution and steps to reduce it were intensely discussed. Each participating member of the commission shared his views that can also be helpful in the direction of environmental protection.
As the danger of global warming increases the role of the Environment Commission also becomes important. Some members strongly advise the commission to coordinate with other agencies for the implementation of environment-related policies as well.
In the concluding remarks the Chairman added that commission would play its role with full dedication. He added that in the future, steps will be taken to enhance cooperation among the Environment Protection Commission and other agencies.
