Tbilisi: The Tbilisi City Hall recently released a Statement and criticised the Misinformation being spread against it. They also allege the NGO “Waste Detector ” and a Movement called “My City Kills Me” for Misinformation about the rehabilitation of Tsereteli Avenue.
As per the Misinformation of NGO and Movement Tbislsi Municipality has changed the terms and conditions rehabilitation project. They also allege the Municipality for extending the timeline for the completion of the project.
It is worth mentioning that Tbilisi City Hall also took to social media and rejected the false claims and Misinformation on this important project.
On their social media page, Tbilisi City Hall stated, “We would like to respond to the misinformation spread by the NGO “Waste Detector” and the movement “My City Kills Me” as if the deadline for completion of rehabilitation of Tsereteli Avenue has been changed and postponed for three months”
“This is totally wrong information. There is no change in the deadline.
This is a complete lie being spread by some vested interest which aims to discredit Tbilisi Municipality and mislead the public. Tbilisi City Hall administration has not changed the terms of project implementation, the rehabilitation of Tsereteli Avenue will be completed at the predetermined time – at the end of January 2024.
We also urge media representatives not to trust false information and to check any misinformation spread about Tbilisi Municipality with the press office of Tbilisi City Hall”.
On the social media post of Tbilsi City Hall a large number of users gave mixed reactions. One user commented, “When the mayor recorded a video on Tsereteli, it was also a complete lie and does not reflect the reality that he has turned here. In what condition has he put the population? It is not rehabilitation; it is humiliation what is happening here, in which condition children go to schools and kindergartens. Let’s not say anything about constant traffic jams, lack of mercy and lack of gas.”
Similarly, Mariko Javakhadze commented, “If you can, link the project to see how it will be at the end of the year. We’ve been waiting for a long time and recently noticed they were laying asphalt on the sidewalk…. Hopefully, you can throw the tiles off the top and not leave them so ugly to make it better”.
Another social media user, Maka Khvedeliani, while reacting to a post from Tbilisi City Hall, commented that “Mr Kakhi, it is now totally unbearable to use public transport in the direction of Didube by Marshall Gelovani (from the Ministry of Agriculture). There’s only one taxi, number #531, going, and it’s busy. Maybe you should replace the shuttle taxi with a bus so that everyone can travel with ease”.
