Tbilisi: The City Council of Tbilisi, the Capital of the Republic of Georgia, approved the budget for the Financial year 2024. At the budget meeting the council also reviewed the Report of activities for last year.
Chairman of the representative body Giorgi Tkemaladze, opened the City Council meeting of Tbilisi. While opening the meeting, he congratulated the public on granting Georgia the status of a candidate country of the European Union by the European Council. He showed that it was symbolic that the decision to grant the status was well accepted in the hall named after Dimitri Kifiani in the City Council of Tbilisi.
The Mayor of the capital also congratulated the Georgian population on this important day before presenting the report on various activities of the previous year. Kakha Kaladze presented the report and drew attention towards the major reforms implemented in the capital. After reviewing the information, the session of the City Council continued in question-answer mode. Kakha Kaladze answered the questions of members of the City Council on a number of completed and ongoing projects of the city council.
As far as the capital budget is concerned the amount of Tbilisi’s main financial document for 2024 is defined as 1 763 354.7 thousand GEL, which 131 222.1 thousand GEL in relation to the approved budget of 2023 (1 632 132,6 thousand GEL), and 62 442,3 in comparison with the draft budget proposed for the first time of 2024 (1 700 912,4 thousand GEL) . As per the information available it is worth mentioning that allocations for the 2024 budget will be directed to various activities, which include Construction of transport infrastructure, construction, operation and reinforcement/replacement of infrastructure facilities, maintenance and improvement of ecological conditions, promotion of economic development, development of housing societies, health and social security, education culture, sport and youth, public order and safety measure of city council.
