A delegation of the Tbilisi city council is on a working visit to the Armenian capital, Yerevan. The delegation is being led by the Chairman of the city council, Giorgi Tkemaladze.
The delegation led by Giorgi Tkemaladze includes many other members of the City Council. The municipality of Yerevan invited the delegation of the Tbilisi city council. The members of the visiting delegation met the first deputy Mayor of Yerevan Armen Pambukchian and the deputy Mayor Levon Hovansian.
On this occasion Giorgi Sharvashidze the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia was also present. The meeting between the delegation and the first deputy Mayor stressed the bilateral relationship and underlined that the visit would make relations more stable among both Municipalities.
Both sides agreed to share their experiences with each other. They expressed hopes that sharing experiences can be a step forward in enhancing mutual cooperation and uplifting the standard of civic facilities.
The Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council Giorgi Tkemaladze met with the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Georgia congratulated him on the opening of the new Georgian embassy building and wished him success.
The visiting delegation of Tbilisi City Hall also visited the Tsytsrenkaberdi complex in Yerevan. Here members of the delegation laid a wreath on the memorial. The complex was established in the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.
They also visited the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts named after Mesrop Mashtots and the Department of Restoration of Ancient Manuscripts together with the director of Matenadaran. Here delegation members saw samples of Armenian and foreign-language manuscripts and permanent and temporary exhibitions that have been preserved for a long time.
In addition to Giorgi Tkemaladze the deputy chairman of the Tbilisi City Council, the delegation also includes Zurab Abashidze, Kakhaber Labuchidze, the chairman of the Education and Culture Commission and Levan Japaridze the chairman of the Audit Commission.
On the other hand the Mayor of Yerevan expressed his gratitude to the Georgian delegation for accepting the invitation. He also termed the visit historic which will open the ways for future cooperation.
