Georgia: The prime minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, attended an important event in Teleti, dedicated to the Day of Energy Technicians.
The honorable gathering was also graced by the presence of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Head of the Department of Relations with Regions of the Government of Georgia, Nika Tkemaladze, State Trustee in Lower Kartli, Giorgi Dokturishvili, Mayor of Gargabni Municipality, David Kargareteli, and other representatives of the central government and invited guests.
The head of government congratulated the energy sector representatives on the professional day. It highlighted the remarkable achievements in the field over the past years, instilling a sense of pride and inspiration.
The Prime Minister highlighted the significant growth in the number of generation facilities since 2012, as well as the substantial improvement in the electricity and natural gas transmission infrastructure.
“66 power plants were built in 2012-2024, with a total power of about 1255 MGW. We have an ambitious goal in terms of electricity. By 2030, Georgia will become a fully self-sufficient country, for which electricity generation should exceed consumption. I’m sure that together with you, we will successfully achieve this ambitious goal”, said the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
In addition, the government chief noted that by the end of 2025, natural gas will be accessed in 400 additional residential areas, adding 57 thousand subscribers to the network.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, for his significant contribution to the development of the energy field. This acknowledgment of his work is a testament to the value of each individual’s contribution to the sector.
It is noteworthy that 43 meritorious employees of the field were awarded during the event.
