Thea Tsulukiani announces 22 competition winners

The Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, Thea Tsulukiani, announced the winners of the "Promoting Education of Talented Young Artists" competition.

Georgia: The Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, Thea Tsulukiani, announced the winners of the “Promoting Education of Talented Young Artists” competition.

The Competition “Promoting the Education of Talented Young Artists” has been held annually since 2021. Its aims are to make higher art education accessible, integrate with current processes in contemporary art, increase the motivation of talented young artists, and promote professional and career development.

The competition’s budget was 300 000 GEL. 57 declarations of the Ministry have given me, of which 22 were winners:

  1. Promotion of learning in the Master’s Program of Film-Television Operator of the Shota Rustaveli Theater and Film University of Georgia;
  2. Co-financing part of tuition and housing costs in Austria, Vienna University of Music and Arts – conductor of choir and orchestra;
  3. Promotion of learning in the Master’s Program of Film-Television Operator of the Shota Rustaveli Theater and Film University of Georgia;
  4. Co-financing of tuition fees in the USA, DePaul University – musical performance (violin);
  5. Co-financing studies in the USA, Berklee College of Music -composition and production;
  6. Promotion of studies with housing costs funding in Germany, Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts – Violin;
  7. Promotion of education by co-financing housing costs in Germany, Augsburg’s highest college of music – clarinet;
  8. Promotion of education by funding housing costs in Germany, Cologne’s highest school of music and dance – flute;
  9. Promotion of education by funding housing costs in Germany, Nuremberg’s highest music school – cello;
  10. Promotion of education by funding housing costs in Germany, Cologne’s highest school of music and dance – horn;
  11. Promotion of education with co-financing of housing costs in Finland, Sibelius Academy – Alt;
  12. Promotion of education by co-financing travel expenses in the USA, New York Academy of Art – painting;
  13. Promotion of education by financing housing costs in Germany, Munich Conservatory – Violin;
  14. Promotion of education with co-financing of housing costs in Finland, Sibelius Academy – Violin;
  15. Promotion of education by co-financing of housing costs, USA, Julliard Music School – Violin;
  16. Promotion of education by funding housing costs in Germany, Augsburg University Leopold Mozart College of Music – Alt;
  17. Promoting education by funding housing costs in the UK, Royal Conservatory of Scotland -alt;
  18. Co-financing of tuition fees in the USA, Giuliard Music School – Piano;
  19. Promotion of education with co-financing of housing costs in USA, Stonebrook University – Cello;
  20. Co-financing of study and living costs in Austria, Vienna University of Music and Arts – Orchestra Conductor;
  21. Co-financing the cost of housing in the USA, Butler School of Music – solo academic song;
  22. Promotion of education with co-financing housing costs in Finland, Sibelius Academy – Piano.

For information, the competition budget was 300 000 GEL in 2023. With this funding, 21 out of 38 applicants were promoted to educate young artists in art studies in Georgia, the USA, Germany, Austria, Finland, Norway, and France.

In 2022, the total budget of the competition was initially 200 000 GEL. Still, considering the number of applicants and the priorities set by the competition’s performance, the Culture Ministry increased the competition budget by 30,000 GEL. Of 37 young people who participated in the competition, the Ministry of Culture has funded 12 contestants to study in the highest academic programs of art-educational institutions in Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Belgium, and Austria.

The budget of the competition in 2021 was 185 000 GEL. 80 Ministry informers have given me a chance. Twenty-two young people have been funded. Nine of them were financed by Georgia to promote different types of education, and 13 competitors—USA, England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Austria—are in art education studies.
