Jaba Samushia the Rector of Tbilisi State University congratulated the new students on the beginning of the new academic year and extended his best wishes to students from the Department of Medicine.
The deputy Dean of the medicine department Maya Bitskinashvili was also present on this occasion.During his address the Reactor of Tbilisi State University Jaba Samushia motivated the students to work hard. He also introduced the first-year students to the history of the development of medicine at the university.
He talked about the opportunities that students will enjoy during their studies at the university. The Rector urged the students to get involved in exchange programs and university projects and to use the university services as much as possible.
While speaking specifically the Reactor added “Teaching medicine at Tbilisi State University has a long history. When the university was founded the world’s leading specialists in the field of medicine were invited to give lectures. More than 30 years ago we began to restore this tradition and since then the revival of the medical field has been intensively underway.”
Reactor stressed “We will allocate funds as much as possible so that the professors and teachers of the faculty of medicine can deepen their knowledge by studying at foreign universities.”
He also added “We are committed to update the bases and simulation center at the faculty. The process of purchasing a university medical clinic is underway. There are many exchange programs for students of the Faculty of Medicine and your involvement is desirable for the purpose of internationalizing knowledge.”
In the framework of the meeting the Rector gave a certificate to Luka Chumburidze, the first-semester student enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine of TSU as a result of the unified national exams of 2024. He appreciated his performance in the unified national exam and extended his best wishes as well.
