Shropshire: A 22- year-old woman lost her life in a hit-and-run case outside the takeaway at Grill out restaurant in Oswestry at somewhere around 2:50 AM on Sunday. The police said that the accident took place as the car mounted a kerb and crashed into the woman and one other pedestrian in Shropshire.
The woman sustained major injuries and was rushed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but succumbed to her injuries soon after reaching the hospital. The other person also suffered some minor injuries.
The accused was seen driving a light-gold or champagne-coloured Volvo and rushed off from the scene at Willow street. Meanwhile, a cordon is currently in place, and Willow street has been closed with a public advisory to avoid the specified areas.
The West Mercia police have launched an appeal asking for details about the incident that took place yesterday night.Â
Detective Inspector Dave Bettinson stated that force has been putting in every possible effort to trace back the accused driver calling out –”Anyone who was in the area or may have a dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage is urged to come forward.”
The inspector paid his condolences for the woman and strength for her family- “Our thoughts go out to the family of the woman who has died as a result of this tragic incident,” stated Mr Bettison.
The police believe that the car had a number of passengers and has called on them to come forward and share the details about the incident. Further, he thanked the public, stating, “I’d like to thank the members of the public who worked tirelessly at the scene to help the victims and deliver crucial first aid.
