The UNDP Georgia has announced to launch first women conference. The decision in this regard was taken on eve on international women day just passed few days ago.
The information was shared on social media handles of the UNDP Georgia. The official Facebook page of UNDP Georgia stated, “On International Women’s Day, we were proud to support the launch of Georgia’s first Women’s Congress.”
It is also worth to note that, “The Congress brought together human rights advocates from various generations, experts, journalists, and representatives from academia, diplomacy, and civil society.”
It is also to be noted that the participants discussed critical issues such as women’s economic empowerment, labour rights protection, the role of technology and media in combating disinformation, women’s safety and security, and other key topics vital to fostering an equal society.
Notably Nils Christensen, Deputy Resident Representative of the UNDP in Georgia, addressed the Congress on behalf of the United Nations Development Program and shared his views on these issues also.
The Women’s Congress was initiated by the Women’s Information Centre, with support from international partners including the European Union, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and UN agencies such as UNDP, UNFPA, and UN Women as well as many other countries of globe as well.

Notably international women day is celebrated with aim raise awareness among the public about women rights. The events are held in school, colleges and other educational institution so that active role of young generation can be ensured.
