Tbilisi: The USAID (United States Agency for International Development) is successfully running a skill development program in Georgia. A large number of students are benefitting from the successful implementation of the program which is proving to be life-changing for them.
Tamar Shengelia a beneficiary of the skill development program also shared her journey and how this program has helped her to hone her skills. She is working as the project manager of Element Construction.
She stated, “USAID and Element Holding’s joint quality control program in the construction sector has allowed me to know the international standards of the construction sector in depth.
Within the framework of the program I have learned many new things such as the essence of quality control systems in the construction process, the classification of quality levels and the main aspects of construction quality assessment.”
It is worth mentioning that Tamar is one of the 300 students of the Element Construction training center who has a new employment perspective and the opportunity to work as a specialist at Element Holding. The company includes more than 10 subsidiaries which currently employ approximately 1,000 employees from across the country.
She further added “Participating in the USAID-supported Construction Quality Assurance training program has a positive impact on my daily activities because it involves continuous alignment with international standards.”
Moreover, “We are covering essential topics such as the basics of quality control systems in construction, classification of quality standards, documenting construction quality evaluations and key aspects of quality assurance methods.” She added.
Meanwhile Tamar emphasizes that working in construction brings her great personal satisfaction. The result is important in itself but there is a special joy in seeing the outcome of one’s work to ensure quality.
Tamar also expressed her gratitude to the USIAD representative for providing them with a great opportunity to acquire the skills . He also added that such programs are very useful for the skill development of youth as the country’s market needs skilled professionals who can compete in the labour market to get themselves employed.
