Georgia: The Georgian Beekeepers Union announces that seven types of honey presented by six Georgian honey-producing companies in the quality competition of the 2024 London International Honey Festival won the highest platinum and gold awards.
The Georgian Beekeepers Union, the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, and the Embassy of Georgia in the United Kingdom supported Georgian beekeepers’ participation in the London Festival.
Two hundred fifty-six honeys from 34 countries participated in this year’s festival.
The festival jury awarded the highest platinum award to three Georgian honeys; these are:
- Acacia Honey – Company “Rukhi Queen”
- Polyfloral honey – Company “Kodi” “Ninotsminda Honey – Alpida”
- Acacia honey – the company “Apijeo.”
The gold awards have been awarded to:
- Polyfloral honey – Company “Royal Honey”
- Alpine Honey – Company “Ska”
- Honey of Tsabli – Company “Lamaria”
- Alpine Honey – the company “Lamaria.”
Georgian honey companies, members of the “Georgian Beekeepers Union,” are participating in the London Honey Festival for the fourth year.
Different Georgian honey presented in 2021-2022 received only silver and bronze awards, one platinum award in 2023, and all of the 6 participating companies earned the highest awards—platinum and gold.
“Georgian Beekeepers Association” is the most representative association of the beekeeping sector in Georgia, which has ten beekeepers associations and more than 30 companies producing honey and other beekeeping products.
Since its founding, “The Association of Beekeepers of Georgia” has been supported by the Caucasus Alliances Program, implemented by Mercy Korps Georgia and funded by the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC), Austrian Development Agency, and Sweden.
Georgian Beekeepers Union
The Georgian Beekeepers Union is an umbrella organization founded in October 2018 by nine legal (7 sector associations and 2 companies) and nine individual entities.
The number of organizations is still growing. Currently, 13 sector organizations (10 associations and three companies) have joined the Union, which covers over four thousand beekeepers throughout Georgia.
